Our doctors have been trained at some of the most prestigious medical schools and cancer centers. As Medical Oncologists, they prescribe chemotherapy for the treatment of cancer. They are also Hematologists who diagnose and treat cancerous and non-cancerous blood disorders. All are dedicated to medical excellence and committed to compassionate care.

William J. Popovic, M.D. Dr. Popovic graduated from St. Louis University School of Medicine. He trained in Internal Medicine and Hematology/Oncology at St. Louis University and Hematology/Oncology at the University of Washington, Seattle. He served as Chief of Hematology at Letterman Army Medical Center at the Presidio of San Francisco, CA from 1977-1979. Dr. Popovic is the founding physician of IOL opening for practice in 1979. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Oncology.

Guillermo Rodriguez, Jr., M.D. Dr. Rodriguez graduated from Autonomous University of Guadalajara School of Medicine. He trained in Internal Medicine at Deaconess Hospital/St. Louis University and Hematology/Oncology at St. Louis University, St. Louis, MO. Dr. Rodriguez served in the Missouri Air National Guard 131st Tactical Fighter Wing, Medical Corps from 1985-1992. He joined IOL in 1987.

Samuel A. Burstein, M.D. Dr. Burstein graduated from Boston University School of Medicine. He trained in Internal Medicine at George Washington University Hospital and Hematology/Oncology at the University of Washington, Seattle. Prior to coming to IOL, Dr. Burstein was Professor for Medicine and Pathology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Oklahoma City, OK. He joined IOL in 1999. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Oncology.

John Visconti, D.O. Dr. Visconti graduated from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kansas City, MO. He trained in Internal Medicine and Hematology/Oncology at St. Louis University, St. Louis, MO. Prior to joining IOL, Dr. Visconti was an Assistant Professor for the Department of Internal Medicine, Hematology and Oncology at St. Louis University. He is board certified in Hematology and Oncology. He joined IOL in 2006.

Alfred O.Greco, M.D. Dr. Greco graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine. He completed the rest of his training at that same institution. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. Prior to joing IOL, he was in private practice in St. Louis at the Center for Cancer Care and Research, which he helped found. He has also been an Associate Principal Investigator with the Heartland Community Clinical Oncology Program, a National Cancer Institute funded research consortium.
